Award Winners
The 2024 Baird of Bute Awardees are:
Inspiration: Prof. Gillian Wright OBE, Director of the U.K. Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh and the European principal investigator for the Mid-InfraRed Instrument (MIRI) on the James Webb Space Telescope.
Aviation: Prof Roderick Galbraith, Aerospace Sciences, School of Engineering, University of Glasgow.
Regrettably we have had to cancel the Award Dinner and Baird Day events at the airfield and Ettrick Bay this year.
The Lord Smith of Kelvin public lecture at the McCance Lecture Theatre, Strathclyde University will go ahead as planned on Wednesday 4th September from 17:30. This year’s speakers are the 2023 Aviation Awardee David Mackay, Chief Pilot at Virgin Galactic, the first Scot in space and this year’s aviation awardee Prof Roderick Galbraith.
