Award of 2026 Dugald Cameron/Baird of Bute Society Medal
The 2026 Dugald Cameron Medal for Design Engineering was awarded to graduating student Ailsa Shaw of Strathclyde University’s Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management. Ailsa graduated with a MSc in Product Design and Innovation with Distinction and was awarded the medal for her final year project.  Her proposal leverages NFC technology to enable the recording of personal audio stories, paired with photographs to preserve and relive shared moments. By combining physical keepsakes with digital storytelling, the design creates a lasting and tangible way to capture memories and strengthen intergenerational bonds.
